The World’s Best Place To Go Rafting According To Rafters
Ukrainian Carpathians
One of the best places in Europe for rafting is the Ukrainian Carpathians.
Located in the west of Ukraine, the Carpathian mountains are famous for its thick greenery and fast streams.
A large number of rivers of streams gives opportunity to divide each of them into three categories: easy, moderate, and complicated.

Another big plus is the price of this activity.
If you are a beginner level tourist an hour of rafting with 6-10 people will cost you around 400 UAH (15$) which usually includes pick up, drop off, gear, and a guide.
For higher level rafting you will need to discuss prices, times, and teams with a rafting coach.
This year I had my first rafting experience of my life and immediately fell in love with this type of sport.
This place is rightfully called the best rafting in Europe, as it is a good place to overcome mountain rivers, which is popular among non-professionals, and has become quite popular in the areas of recreation and entertainment. Therefore, travel agencies and companies offer their clients this type of extreme recreation.
Rafting does not lose its appeal for lovers of extreme sports and thrills.
Since then I have been coming back all throughout the summer to try different rivers.
On The Ganges In Rishikesh
White Water Rafting On The Ganges In Rishikesh While it may not be the best place for white water rafting in the world. It is definitely in contention to be India’s premier destination for white water rafting. The best part about Rishikesh is how with each trip there we have elevated to a new level of rafting experience. The holy Ganges are at their most ferocious in Rishikesh and each circuit along this holy river comes with its unique unyielding challenges.

White Nile descent
Even with its last runnable rapids missing (a dam has been built since I rafted in Jinja), a White Nile descent is something to remember. At first, you are struck by the warmth of the Ugandan people and the many children along the way to the start point. Then, the water temperature surprises you – I was there at the end of November and it seemed warmer than the waters of the Indian Ocean (experienced over the same period).

Waves are at times so high that you cannot see what’s coming; you are just ready to fall into the water. The White Nile is friendly, though, and no crocodile or hippo attacks were registered in this section. I haven’t seen any animals but I’ve taken the taste of fresh pineapple savoured in the raft with me. It’s a great rafting adventure for beginner paddlers and experienced ones alike and those were the most impressive moments on the river that I’ve ever had.
Ecuador!
In my opinion it is by far top notch, you have rivers that are:
- 4+ - Quijos (2-3 hours from Quito international airport) - flowing towards the Amazon
- 3+ - 4 Blanco and Toachi rivers (2 - 3 hours from Quito international airport) - flowing towards the coast
- 2 - 2+ Anzu - Ecuador Amazon (4 hours from Quito international airport) - family friendly and light adventure in the Amazon
- 3+ - 4 Jatun Yacu - Quechua for great waters (4 hours from Quito international airport) - Rafting in the Amazon rainforest
- 4+ Mishaulli - Are you crazy? yes this is one of the more difficult ones, but truly rewarding (4 hours from Quito airport) - Amazon rainforest.
These are a list of our favourites. There are more and the best is, it can be done 365 days a year, no seasonality, change scenery on different runs, amazing wildlife and nature backdrop. Have been on all of the above with friends and with family. We usually use Hakuna Matata Amazon lodge near to Archidona as our base for exploring several jungle rivers.
Can be combined with other world class adventure activities (Kayaking of course), mountain biking, trekking, jungle hikes or mountain climbs.
Mamoni river Panama
One of my best rafting experience ever was on the Mamoni river in Panama, for various reasons.
First of all, the trip to get from Panama City to the rafting start on Mamoni river is a jungle experience on dirt roads, getting you to slowly understand that you are far away from civilisation - of course without any network coverage, as it will be the case during the whole experience.

New Zealand: down a 7 meters / 23 feet waterfall!
Rafting down the world's tallest commercially exploited waterfall is an incredible experience! Near Rotorua, in New Zealand, you can take a day trip to go rafting on a 7 meters / 23 meters waterfall.

It is definitely a must-do experience for any fan of raft, and can be accomplished even by beginners - however, beware, capsizing is possible while riding the waterfall!
